Honda Shows off 2012 Civic Safety Credentials |
All car manufactures boast about the high level of safety offered by their vehicles. But we usually don’t find out whether their claims are accurate until they are subjected to crash tests from the likes of Euro NCAP or the IIHS. Since five stars have become the norm for almost all new models above the city-car level, car manufacturers are trying to outdo each other by achieving new records in each category measured by the independent safety organization(s).
Only a month after its launch at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda has released a video displaying the development of the 2012 European-market Civic.
The new Civic’s Development Leader, Mitsuru Kariya, commented: “Honda has a high-tech crash test facility in Tochigi, Japan. There we were able to crash the new Civic into vehicles of different sizes and at different angles and speeds. We wanted to make sure that we are offering the best ‘real world’ safety for our customers.”
You can view the four-minute video showing the ninth-generation Civic being crash-tested right after the jump.
